Tsuen Seng ousted at Aussie Open

PETALING JAYA: World Championships-bound men’s singles shuttler Lee Tsuen Seng (pic) suffered a big jolt to his confidence when he was ousted in the second round of the Australian Open yesterday.

The third seeded Malaysian, who had a first-round bye, was beaten 19-21, 19-21 by Aditya Prakash of India in 39 minutes.

The other two Malaysians in the men’s singles competition, KLRC Bhd’s Zulfadli Zulkifli and K. Yogendran, were also eliminated in the second round.

Asian junior championship quarter-finalist Zulfadli failed to get the better of sixth seed Anup Sridhar of India, losing 17-21, 18-21 while Yogendran lost 16-21, 6-21 to top seed Chan Yan Kit of Hong Kong.

Malaysia’s title hopes now rest on the men’s doubles pair of Gan Teik Chai-Tan Bin Shen, the second seeds, who received a bye into the second round.
